Mrs P was resident in a Nursing Home in a London Borough. Her family lived in the north of England and visited once monthly. Mrs P’s family were concerned that although their mother appeared fine during visit’s, they felt they needed reassurance that the correct care was being delivered and that her care records were up to date and reflective of her levels of need.
We attended the Nursing Home unannounced and carried out a review of the care provided and the records. We provided the family with a written report detailing the care and also recommendations for changes/additions to the care records. On the families behalf we worked with the Nursing Home staff to address the issues identified within the records and arranged ongoing inspections.
Mrs P’s family felt that our involvement provided reassurance that the correct care was being provided and that during times when they were unable to visit, their mother was being supported.
